God has blessed us to see the beginning of a brand new year. Were you like most of us, and made promises, resolutions, vows, or some sort of commitment for the coming year? How is it going so far? So far, so good? Well, if you’re still going strong, God bless you! I pray that you will achieve your objective, and make good on whatever commitment you’ve made. Remember, especially if you are a believer in God’s will, you can do “all things through Christ, which strengthens you”!

There is one thing I want to challenge you on for this year, if you have not already. And if you have, and in the first two weeks of the year, you are falling short, I want to encourage you as well. The challenge deals with your relationship with God and your fellowship with other believers in Christ Jesus.

Have you committed to getting closer to God, or renewing your relationship with Him? Have you stated out loud, or to yourself, that this year “I’m going to do better with God”? Did you say the same thing about attending church this year? “I’m going to go to church more often.” “I’m going to join somebody’s church this year.” As I write this, we are nearly midway through the month of January, and you have not really made any real strides toward those noble and (I dare say necessary) goals. Allow me to be of some assistance.

It’s not too late! Don’t allow the enemy (Satan) to lull you into thinking that if you didn’t move on that commitment in the first two weeks, there’s no need to follow through. You can still make good on those goals and objectives. God is a God of another chance. Though you may be slow getting out of the gate, so to speak, you still have an opportunity to be a winner!! We are taught through Scripture, that the “race” is not given to the swiftest, nor the strongest, but to the one that endures until the end!

God has given to you another opportunity. Now you must make good the opportunity provided. It is a wonderful thing when opportunity and desire intersect. Some people have desire, but no opportunity. Others have opportunity, but lack the desire. As far as getting right with God, and joining yourself with a family of faith, God has made available the opportunity. If you have the desire, He will help see to it that your objectives are met. Do you have the desire? Jesus asked the man that was by the pool ofBethesda, “Do you want to be made whole?”

As God’s man, I can assure you that He is waiting to get to know you, to get re-acquainted with you, to get closer to you. He will not deride you about where you’ve been, what you’ve been doing, and why it has taken you so long. He won’t ridicule you about being in His presence, and not being as close as you should be, or think you should be. He will receive you gladly, with open arms, a forgiving spirit, and an unconditional love. I invite you to come and share with us as soon as you possible can. Don’t miss the opportunity God has granted, because you are deficient of desire. Do it today! Start the year of right!!
